Autumn. Winter. Spring. Winter. Autumn. That describes the weather we had in the beginning of January. When it wasn’t raining it was snowing and from time to time it would just be dry. The weather didn’t know what to but we at TWS did know what we wanted to do. Some weeks earlier Tijs and myself had gotten an invitation to drive a demo at the annual DHI Cup in Odense, Denmark. Long time friend Niklas Majgaard lives there and he had asked us to come over and stay at his place, and with the nighttrain being cheaper than a tank of petrol, it was quite and easy descision!

The trip started at Utrecht Central station on a Thursday afternoon where we, after getting some food, got on the CNL to Denmark. It would be a 13hour journey..
.. taking us first through Germany. I had borrowed a proper camera so I started playing with some of the features. All picks were shot on Manual, quickest way to learn is the hard way.
After a long night we arrived in Odense where it was snowing. In true drifter fashion it was time for some skids!
As my facial expression might hint at, we were quite groggy to say the least and the day hadn’t even begun. So after some coffee..
..it was time to meet up with Niklas and drive to the venue. The DHI cup consist of both an..
..onroad and an..
..offroad section. A lot of the big names in the series would come over to compete in this event. The drifttrack was located next to the entrance, which was a good thing for attracting people but not so good for the temperature at the track!
With the track being upsidedown-carpet, it was much too grippy for T-drifts, so we changed to Yokomo R2’s. Most of the Danish guys stayed on T-drifts thought so there was a huuuuuuge speed difference between the majority of the Danes and us.
It was quite dark in our corner of the venue so the pics are a bit blurry from time to time, excuse moi. I do think that this picture of Tijs’ frankenstein R32 captures a lot of energy!
Kasper “The Danish Hammer” Korsgaard throwing some angle with his BMW.
Danish top driver Thue brought out this clean ZN6. But lets not forget the rest of the event!
Because there was some pretty intense driving going on. Not only watching the cars flying past was pretty exciting…
… watching the drivers in hyperconcentration was pretty intense too! It was cool seeing these top drivers from all over the world up close and have a chat with some of them.
Jimmy from oOple arranged that the winners from the on- and offroad competition would battle each other with driftcars on the drifttrack. It was pretty cool to see these guys drive driftcars for the first time. Tijs and I are also featured in the oOple post obout the DHI btw! Check it out here –> click
Jimmy being the crazy guy he is decided it was a good idea to lay on the drifttrack and try to lick cars coming past!
Sadly it was already time to head back, because Tijs and I had to catch the train back. The weekend had flown past and it was time to head home.
It has been an awesome weekend and I would like to thank Niklas and all the other Danes for having us!
Up next: the 1st round of the D1:10!
